ABA Therapy in Kansas City
Shaping Behavior Solutions is a Kansas City-based company providing individualized ABA therapy and behavioral supports for people of all ages in homes, schools, and other settings.
What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding and effectively changing behavior to improve outcomes. ABA is based on principles that help us understand a person’s behavior and how it’s influenced by their environment.
At Shaping Behavior Solutions, we are committed to supporting families. Once services begin, we collect and analyze data to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses the unique needs of the individual. These data guide ongoing decisions to ensure supports are meaningful and effective. Our goal is to help your family member achieve success by focusing on what truly matters—measurable progress and quality of life.
Who Do We Serve?
At Shaping Behavior Solutions, we proudly serve individuals across the lifespan—from early childhood through adulthood. Our team has supported individuals with a wide range of developmental disabilities, and we are passionate about creating access to services for as many people as possible. Everyone deserves support that works.
How Can We Help?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach for supporting a wide range of behavioral needs. We specialize in helping individuals who engage in challenging behavior that may affect learning, relationships, or daily life. We commonly work with individuals who experience:
Tantrums, aggression, or self-injury
Property destruction (e.g., throwing or breaking items)
Difficulty following directions or completing tasks
Limited communication
Challenges with transitions or routine changes
Social skill difficulties (e.g., sharing, taking turns, initiating interactions)
Toilet training and hygiene routines
Food selectivity or mealtime behaviors
Unsafe behaviors such as elopement (running away)
Difficulty with task focus or independent work (homework, daily chores, etc.)
ABA services are personalized to promote meaningful progress and support the development of safe, functional alternatives across home, school, and community settings.
Our Providers
Services at Shaping Behavior Solutions are delivered by professionals qualified to practice behavior analysis in Missouri. This includes:
Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBAs)
Provisionally Licensed Behavior Analysts (PLBAs) working under the supervision of an LBA
Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs®) provide direct support as part of our team and work under the supervision and direction of a LBA or a PLBA under LBA supervision. RBTs are nationally certified but are not independently licensed to practice in Missouri.
Our team adheres to all state regulations and professional ethics standards to ensure safe, high-quality, and individualized behavioral support for every client.
Step 1: Consultation
During this free 30-minute informational consultation, we’ll take time to understand your needs, goals, and the challenges your family is facing. You’ll receive:
An overview of how our services may be a good fit
Honest feedback and recommendations — even if that means suggesting other resources
A clear outline of possible next steps, with no obligation to begin services
Step 2: Assessment
Once we move forward with services, we’ll schedule your first assessment session. During this session, we’ll gather more information based on what was discussed during the consultation, including direct observation when possible. Assessment activities may occur in a variety of settings, depending on your preferences and our availability. The data collected will guide the development of a comprehensive behavior intervention plan tailored to your needs.
Step 3: Treatment Plan
After the assessment is completed and services are approved to proceed, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan designed specifically for your family member’s needs. This plan may include clearly defined goals, evidence-based teaching strategies, and a schedule of recommended service hours. We’ll also outline how progress will be measured and reviewed regularly.
Your treatment plan will serve as a roadmap, helping everyone stay focused on meaningful, measurable goals. We’ll review the plan with you, answer your questions, and collaborate on next steps.
Step 4: Ongoing Support
We provide ongoing support through direct services, caregiver coaching, and progress monitoring. As meaningful goals are achieved, services may be gradually reduced based on the individual's needs and clinical recommendations. When support is no longer necessary, we’ll work with you to plan for a smooth transition or discharge. If new needs arise in the future, we welcome the opportunity to reconnect and explore whether services may be appropriate again.
